  1. Jul 04,  · Curiously, there are 2 different versions of this UK release of "In & Out of Focus". Version One does not include "House of the King" but does have the photos on the inside of the gatefold. The running order of Version One is: A1 Focus (Instrumental) A2 Why Dream A3 Happy Nightmare B1 Anonymous B2 Black Beauty B3 Sugar Island B4 Focus (Vocal).4/5(42).

  4. This version has a laminated cover, orange Imperial labels and contains "House Of The King". The runout groove etchings indicate a different pressing than Focus (2) - In And Out Of Focus Back cover: Manufactured by BOVEMA-E.M.I., Haarlem, Holland/5(8).
  5. Focus Plays Focus is the first studio album by Dutch rock band Focus, released in September on Imperial thortacooredifas.recpuacolracepfulilesgahimontbi.co is the only album recorded by the group's original line-up consisting of organist and vocalist Thijs van Leer, bassist Martin Dresden, drummer Hans Cleuver, and guitarist Jan thortacooredifas.recpuacolracepfulilesgahimontbi.co was renamed In and Out of Focus for the international re-release of the album from Genre: Progressive rock.
  6. "Focus" appears twice, once as a brief vocal version and later as an extended instrumental. "Anonymus" is better known to fans in it's later version "Anonymus II" appearing on the album "Focus 3", but it's essentially the same song. And "House of the King" is one of the band's hits/5(37).
  7. Akkerman's "House of the King" was originally a Dutch single release, before being included on the UK album In and Out of Focus, which featured tracks from 'Focus Play Focus" in a different playing sequence plus "House of the King" (the track is not on the band's Dutch debut).
  8. Focus' debut album is gentler and more low-key and vocal-oriented than their subsequent efforts; fans of Jan Akkerman's pyrotechnics may be disappointed by his relatively restrained presence, but others may be pleasantly surprised to find a more economic group than they remember. A fair collection of progressive rock tunes without a clear focus, the material is dominated by Thijs Van Leer.
